"Circular Communities
THE BRIEF ASKED students to design a building in response to their explorations around communities and the circular economy within Bethnal Green.
An intense programme of talks and site visits with community and action groups, alongside research around ideas of waste material being utilised as a valued resource, prepared the students to produce a building design with a socially circular response that operates as an urban connector and builder of communities. Sociopolitical demographics, public and private placement, material detail and re-appropriation with the avoidance of virgin source material were all underpinning criteria for each of the students’ proposals."
