HOUSE FOR A POSTCARD COLLECTOR

by Amar Mohammed

The brief was to design a house which also had a private residence aswell as a public space to display the collection. The house I designed has a basement and first floor as the public space where an exhibition is displayed with interactive displays (winding cabinets) and a non interactive display (postcards on walls and fins). The facade is prefab concrete slabs with a unique sand surface on each slab which mimics the neighbouring brick buildings in Bethnal Green. The top two floors are the private space where the residence is. The glass facade of the ground floor shows how the building is held up with the 4 cores which serve different purposes each on different floors.
