COFFEE CONSCIENCE

This project centred around creating a social space that encouraged the awareness and discussion of important topics. This is a coffee shop that specifically aims to highlight the reality of modern slavery in the coffee trade and the reasons this still is an issue. Many drink coffee daily without truly knowing its source. Through engagement with this space and the information about coffee displayed; customers are invited to learn more about the coffee they consume and the journey it may have taken. This space also converts into an exhibition space to give customers an opportunity to engage further with this topic during fortnightly events in which guest speakers and documentaries will also be a means of communication to highlight the importance of bringing light to this injustice as well as practical ways to move forward in bringing about change.
