We were each given 2 different random materials as a hard and soft to experiment with. My hard material was concrete, and my soft was fabric. I decided to experiment with creating structural shapes by dipping high absorbent fabrics in concrete batter, then using moulds like wood blocks, bowls and more, to give a shape. I then wait for the shapes to dry and remove the moulds. Later on, we were given a list of clients to choose from so that we can design a pop-up for their fashion line. We were supposed to choose a client that shared a similar design aesthetic. My client was Elisa Trombatore, a lingerie designer who uses the female body as a mould, and allows the fabric to drape and create silhouettes on its own.
