SUPER HEDGE: AN EXPLORATION OF INK

by Anissa Colaco Souza

Super Hedge is an attempt to address the unsustainable and environmentally harmful production of ink and dye by creating a prototype of a natural ink and dye factory where the production is small scale, sustainable bio-regional and non-toxic. The project is the anti-thesis of the fast-paced consumerism of the ink and dye industry as it currently exists. The building explores the use of sustainable and experimental materials such as CLT and Mycelium cladding. The programme is made up of an an ink and dye factory, gallery, artist workshops and co-housing unit, creating a mixed ecology where work and leisure intersect.
