BENEATH THE SURFACE

by Victoria Berry

Beneath the Surface is a proposal situated in Gabriels Wharf, London that explores new ways of seeing and appreciating art, through the medium of excavation. As opposed to showcasing a finished artwork at an exhibition or gallery setting, the project puts forward a spatial narrative that invites visitors to move through space and enrich their knowledge on the process of making art. Moving from the underground art studios to the aboveground exhibition rooms, visitors experience live viewings of art made in situ, with the complete work to be displayed in the form of an open-air exhibition.
