My proposal arises from the need to recycle the vast amount of cardboard waste produced in Peckham market and eliminate the plastic bags which pollute the area. My proposal will turn the cardboard waste into reusable paper bags which will be used in Peckham and have a local identity. The structure is inspired by origami and resembles strips of folded paper, the pieces of which could be “unfolded” into a flat sheet. The structure is clad in a variety of perforated metal panels. Inside a vast triple height room serves as a paper drying space.
