WHAT DOES THE BUILDING DO?

by Molly-Mae Onyett

Situated in Kentish Town's Talacre Gardens, ’What does the Building do?’, is a project inspired by the 1974 Dinosaur playground, built by the grass-roots community group ‘Inter-Action’. Talacre has a strong connection to the surrounding community and has a history of initiates that aimed to get people and neighbours of the park to engage. The project re-imagines the existing sports centre located within the gardens and proposes minimal but playful fragments that explore different ideas of movement and adaptability, allowing the building to go through different transformations, turning the centre into a circus school and performance space.
