POLKADOTS NURSERY

by Sarah Saedan

The Project uses doodles, chance operations, and random recycling to explore the possibilities for the regeneration of Talacre Gardens. In the first semester these uncovered a network of underground services and the physical traces, which became the basis for services pavilions. In the second semester these ideas were reformed to extend and reconfigure the nursery provision for young children on the site. Taking the existing single-story brick nursery on the adjacent housing estate, this is remodelled to make a richer sensory double height experience using a range of soft recycled and natural materials to generate soothing spaces and to include the provision for autistic children.
