CONNECTORS

Named after the device used to join components in electronics, as well as the social aspect of the programme, ‘Connectors’ is an upcycling art studio where the community in and around Hansard Mews can donate electronic waste which will then be used to create sculptures/artwork with an afrofuturistic twist. The idea of connections, separations and reuse are what defined the conceptual design of the main element: stacked rings that serve as a staircase, storage and display unit. Standing in the middle of the building and running from the ground to the first-floor ceiling, this structure will be the centre of attention and a showcase for African inspired artwork created from the scraps of discarded technology.
