PECKHAM ARCH PROPOSED REDEVELOPMENT

by Kit Webster

This proposal for the site located adjacent to Peckham High Street details the construction of a timber frame market place with an impressive and striking hyperbolic paraboloid roof design. This was to ensure the site's current use as Peckham's central community space is not lost with a redevelopment, but is instead built upon and improved. Presently, temporary market stalls are set up on weekends for the locals, while the new site would allow for permanent commerce in addition to new office and recreation spaces. The proposal has a sustainability-first approach, with less environmentally taxing material usage, such as timber and ETFE, as well as including passive design strategies and photovoltaic panels as an energy source.
