The thesis of my project is using the ‘exposé’ to radically reuse the Bloomberg Building, thus creating a stage for the City of London, and reinstating its status as a forward-thinking financial capital. The current world context has been decentralised by events such as Brexit and the corona virus pandemic. The highest impact has been felt by the city core that now stands abandoned, leaving the future of work and enjoyment of the city uncertain. If the City of London wants to revitalise its status by boosting its fintech occupation, it can do so by capitalising on Bloomberg’s media clout. The Bloomberg Building already acts as an informal stage for the City due to its relatively low height. My project proposes a greater level of exposé through an extrovert approach to Bloomberg’s broadcasting. The Canyon and mid-level broadcasting pods create the street parallax, engaging with the street and offering a spectacle to pedestrians and visitors. The high-level broadcasting pods deal with roof exposure towards neighbouring buildings and the skyscrapers in the Eastern Cluster. Bloomberg becomes a stage for city, thus maximising their exposé through an extroverted broadcasting experience aimed at companies, neighbours, and public.
