THE DEPLOYABLE DESK

The chosen workspaces in my home are in two different locations on different levels resulting in an issue with portability. To tackle this, the desk was designed to be transportable. Therefore the I may remain stationary with everything I need, whilst my workspace is mobile. Research on stair lifts and ski lifts was carried out to learn more about the rack and pinion mechanism and technology. This led to the design for a portable desk easily moving around the house by hanging from the rack attached to the ceiling. This allows for the journey to and back from my workspaces to be much faster and more convenient as my equipment remains with me and at any time I wish I can change my workspace environment to best suit my requirements. However, this installation needed to cohabit with the rest of my household. The comedic moments created by this interactions are also explored in the drawings.
