The brief for the project is to convert Wormwood Scrubs Prison into a place where a collective society lives and works through reuse of the existing buildings, demolitions, new additions to the existing and new bits of building. The prison will offer temporary housing for refugees until they find a permanent place to live while amenities such as public spaces, a school, a museum and a multi faith space will become part of the masterplan scheme to enhance the community’s standard of living. The existing boundary wall will be demolished to strengthen the relationship between the people living in the surrounding area and the refugees.
