Kara Walker is a contemporary artist that focuses on exploring subjects such as race, gender, sexuality, and violence mainly as a silhouette artist. She grew up surrounded by her father's art, leading her to follow in his footsteps. My concept for her house is surrounded around transparency and shadows, so her own silhouette will be seen by her audience on the street as they pass by, there is a frosted glass studio at the front of the building where she can show her work and herself working to her audience. As well as providing enough space for her and her husband to live in under the seating area for the audience, placed close to the garden for privacy.
