MArch Architecture

Situated within the Tilbury Port, the project tackles the main issues of Tilbury to reinforce its economic and social contexts. It introduces the Bioresearch Study Centre that will overcome the lack of learning facilities within the area and expand the site networks. Taking the advantage of the site environment, the Study Centre manifests the idea of learning through nature. By combining bioresearch and digital technology to study and collect data about plants, the proposal explores the idea of using the surrounding landscapes as a teaching tool. It investigates the further possibility of architecture to adapt to the landscape and become a part of the research and learning process. Through different spatial and visual experiences, the building itself becomes part of the constructed landscape. It promotes interactions between the users, the building and the environment, readdressing the ways of studying nature.
