The bamboo immersive theatre is designed as a performance space and theatre production workshop. The choreography of the performance spaces features the theatre play ‘Then She Fell’, inspired by ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The theatre production workshop, situated at the ground floor of the theatre, will continually supply spatial and props changes for different productions and be an open-access community workshop. The design is organised by six identical bamboo modules that curve as they expand from the ground floor to the roof, merging into gothic vaults at the top. The audience experienced the performance through labyrinthine spaces, with multiple rooms carved out from the bamboo structure, guided by the numerous staircases, ladders, corridors and internal balconies, whilst gathering glimpses of the street life of Peckham through the bamboo vaults and translucent bioplastics panels.
