Tilbury, a once rural town, has become the centre of UK’s booming trade and agriculture industry. The region has been covered with farmland and a canal system helps in the transportation of cargo. As the rest of the country celebrates, there is incongruity among the residents of Tilbury. Public spaces are replaced with warehouses and people feel intimidated with this development. The Tilbury Container Market will therefore provide a contemporary urban realm that allows the residents to socialize in a port-like environment. Through container farming and various machinery, they will be acquainted with the changing identity of the region. The proposal will encapsulate the production, distribution, and consumption of food in Tilbury. Thus, creating a marketplace that is informed by its logistics.
