Giving new life to an abandoned subterranean reservoir located within Finsbury Park, also known as Hornsey Wood Reservoir. A new temporary residential proposal is for a completely enclosed system that solely uses the power it has generated from the dedicated solar panels. Excess electricity generated throughout the day is used to pump water from a new lower reservoir to the on-site surface reservoir. Then during the evening when power is required the stored water on the surface gets released back into the lower reservoir powering the turbine generator. This form of power storage is called Pumped Hydroelectricity and offers an alternative to harmful lithium batteries. The energy-centric proposal was inspired by the original purpose of the site as a reservoir. Vehicles are an important aspect of the site, restricting access to only communicators with electric vehicles and providing a space to charge your vehicle. EV’s can present opportunities for spaces where people can stay in enclosed spaces with their vehicles in the same room.
