ANNIES WHARF

by Annie Williams

A secret school for squatters that is based on the Thames, near Limehouse. The project is inspired by the M11 link road protests in 1994 in Leytonstone where towers, tunnels , nets and other forms of architecture were created to try and prevent their eviction from Claremont Road. The exterior of the building presents itself as an industrial shed. Inside contains a recreation Claremont road which allows for squatters to practice building towers, braking through walls and the complete take over of a space. The content of the building should remains hidden from outside view at all cost. The squatters gather skills, gain legal advice and decide on a collective action then take over vacant properties in London and return them as public space. The whole interior is a homage to Claremont road and designed as a squatters paradise.
