REFLECTION FOREST

The project is a prison masterplan, located in a wider productive masterplan, Wantsumville, on the Manston Airfield. The project seeks to integrate principles of sustainable design, nature, and productivity into the development of a modern correctional facility. The masterplan is set within a productive forest that grows timber that later can be used for expansion. The prison masterplan consists of a series of cabins that are designed to be functional and visually appealing. The buildings incorporate natural materials such as wood, chalk, and recycled concrete to create a harmonious relationship with the surrounding forest. Through the use of natural materials, productive workshops, and a focus on practical skills, the prison masterplan aims to provide inmates with a supportive and rehabilitative environment that prepares them for a successful return to society.
