The Lea Tree aims to integrate local neighbourhoods whilst also creating an identity on an urban scale to combat current and future climate, social and economic issues. The Green Skyway is the trunk project. A green active travel route that connects Bromley-By-Bow to the East India Dock Road. Running on top of the A12, with multiple entry points, the walkway connects not only neighbourhoods but the whole urban area. The walkway will be coated in living walls that offer noise and air pollution reductions whilst giving mental health benefits, with the aim to also combat the heat island effect. The branches of the Lea Tree are new green corridors that aim to change everyday life by offering safe, green and inclusive transport links. The Poplar App is the digital connection of the project which aims to connect Poplar residents together to build stronger, happier and healthier communities. The app will promote a local currency, Poplar Points, which can be acquired by shopping at local businesses, taking part in community activities, or starting clubs that promote a better wellbeing. Poplar Points can be used at active travel stations found around the area that offer discounted rates for bikes and scooters.
