The design proposal adapts an existing building into a living and working space for a luthier. The aim of the project is to address the deforestation matter due to the harvesting of tonewood involved in instrument making by repurposing and recycling materials obtained from decommissioned instruments. The concept intends to visually represent the sound, using it as a connection among the three floors of the site. It is meant to be an interactive and playful space for clients to play music and whisper into the voice pipes, transmitting the sound to other areas of the building. Waste is recycled and repurposed by the maker during the instrument making process, as well as applied to the design idea by employing repurposed brass from old trumpets to construct the speaking tubes.
