THE URBAN LIVING ROOM

by Tara Dehghanpour

In recent years, Oxford Street has lacked a sense of place and human interaction, the street is monotonous and with minimal open and recreation spaces. My project aims to consider Oxford Street as a new urban living room, a space to be domesticated and diminish the strict boundaries between outside and inside to reflect new life patterns. Revitalising Oxford Street to create a quick escape from the congested and overcrowded nature; a community-driven project by scattering domesticity throughout the city. The proposed structure is an office space that mirrors the idea of ‘working from home’ from home, thus breaking the binaries of work and home and supporting human interaction. This caters to contemporary times and the change in people’s lifestyles since the idea of a fixed domestic home has disappeared and now expands into the urban.
