THE LIVING BUILD : A MOMENT IN DEEP TIME

The Living Build is a research space for new and innovative biomaterials, developed for and by the community. The focus was to design a site ‘framework’ that has a sensitivity to the forces of nature and flows of time. This is an ever evolving and developing space, tailored to the needs of the local people and the land. Records in Tower Hamlets show that residents stay no longer than 4 years, demonstrating there is a need for community and longevity to be developed in the area. This project aims to ingrain a sense of belonging and ownership for the people of Tower Hamlets, whilst also driving the search for innovative and eco-conscious design amidst the climate crisis.
