The main concept design of The Wonky Pottery Studio was to create a space for people of all ages to comfortably express their creativity through ceramic design. Offering a variety of materials, classes and seasonal exhibition events, the studio opens up to amazing opportunities. Furthermore, the construction of the building is split into three floors which allows specific areas like the studio space and indoor and outdoor cafe to have plenty of space. With the addition of a cantilever, the studio is able to expand above the canal for impeccable views of Hackney Wick. The woven aspect of the studio comes from the exterior wall, creating an illusion of a woven exterior without weaving was an important aspect of this project because a woven object can be perceived differently. Therefore creating this illusion using a triangular looking fin, made it possible to see from various angles. Showcasing the members work in seasonal exhibitions allows visitors to view and be inspired by the creativity to hopefully participate in. Jars, vases, pots, statement pieces can be made, it's up to the creative mind to think outside the box. It’s what The Wonky Pottery Studio looks for.
