Feeding Thanet explores how the town of Ramsgate might transform to produce enough food within its locaility to feed itself. Conceiving the social and architectural transformations needed to facilitate this; the project proposes a series of specific yet widley applicable interventions to exisiting buildings, empty houses, rooftops and under-utilised peices of land. Whilst mostly off-site, the project has been developed in conjunction with the drive for self-sufficiency of Wantsumville, interacting with the exports and waste products of its programmes to expand its nexus. At a time when food supply in the UK is threatened by the issues of climate change, Brexit and volatile inflation, our existing globalised system needs radical reform. Presented through the 'New Thanet Catalog', an imagined local publication, I consider the how the project may be communicated to the community in an accessible and interesting format. The catalog becomes a knowledge sharing tool with a 'DIY' attitude linking to the theme of bottom-up movement and social action thats needed to advocate change to the food system.
