LIVING CLOSER CO-LIVING AND CO-WORKING

by Elizabeta Diakantonis

In response to the compound energy, rising costs of living, and housing crisis, Living Closer is an innovative solution using expanded cork to create a highly sustainable design and contribute towards a greener future. The project converts three derelict buildings in London's borough of Tower Hamlets into co-living and co-working spaces. With 184 new apartments and marketing studio pods, it provides a platform for entrepreneurs, start-ups, hobbyists, and specialists to live-stream, film, or capture their content for social media, enabling them to scale their business. This unique co-living and co-working solution allows residents to live a sustainable lifestyle, while helping them support and grow their online presence. The design explores the efficient use of energy using water source heat pumps and Passivhaus standard building to addresses the needs of the community and the planet.
