BA Architecture

The assumption that works of architecture are predominantly appreciated through visual imagery disregards the fact that all the senses are required in order to create a complex understanding of the built environment surrounding us. The idea of thresholds in architectural spaces are theoretically, politically and spatially exaggerated in this Bazaar where overlooked ‘income gap’ discrepancies are manifested through awkward insertions of programs, spaces and elements. The overlapping of open spaces designed to tease and overload the senses create an uncomfortable and overwhelming environment where the users are scrutinised and judged according to status and economic decisions. The juxtaposition of different senses is designed to stimulate the users to respond unconventionally to the gaps and fragments in the architecture, where inconvenience and discomfort mirrors the current cost of living crisis. Most importantly, individual experiences are highly celebrated as the meaning of the work is user dependent.
