The project brief put forth for the Salvador Workshop entailed the development of a demountable structure that adhered to the principles of circular economy and sustainability in design. The primary objective of this structure was to serve as a dedicated space for the workshop to manufacture the furniture item proposed in Project 1, while also showcasing the machinery involved in the production process. It was imperative that the demountable structure be modular in nature, use sustainable materials, and work with the unique characteristics of the Boipeba site, including its colors and historical identity. The design process commenced with a thorough analysis of the spatial requirements of the workshop and the specific needs pertaining to furniture production. The demountable structure was designed to offer flexibility and adaptability through modular components, facilitating ease of assembly, disassembly, and reconfiguration. This approach not only ensured efficient transportation and future reuse but also aimed to minimise material waste and resource consumption, aligning with the principles of circular economy. In adherence to sustainability principles, careful consideration was given to the selection of materials for the structure. Emphasis was placed on durability, recyclability, and low environmental impact. Renewable resources, recycled materials, and environmentally friendly construction techniques were thoughtfully incorporated, thereby demonstrating the workshop's commitment to sustainable design. Furthermore, the design of the demountable structure was meticulously crafted to complement the aesthetic and historical context of the Boipeba site. Extensive research into the local architectural heritage and cultural significance guided the choice of materials, textures, and color palettes. By doing so, the structure seamlessly integrated into its surroundings, forging a harmonious connection with the site and honoring the rich history and identity of Boipeba. The resultant demountable structure exemplified the workshop's dedication to the principles of circular economy and sustainable design. It provided a functional and adaptable space for furniture production while effectively showcasing the machinery involved. Through its modular construction, use of sustainable materials, and sensitive integration with the Boipeba site, the structure became a tangible representation of the workshop's values, exemplifying its commitment to promoting environmentally conscious practices.
