The aim of this project was to redesign the interior of a room in the OXO Bargehouse, London. With the theme of time being the main inspiration, the redesigned space had to function as a screening outpost for the British Film Institute, as well as a space that may benefit the local community/ Tower Bridge mooring community. Seats are suspended and attached to a pulley system fixed on the ceiling beams; when visitors place their weight on the seat, the pulley system allows for the flexible MDF screens to be pulled forward. The more viewers that join and take a seat, the more immersive and closer the screening experience is. A seating area will be a primary space for the alternate programme of the room, a place for collaboration and socialising. The idea is to have levels of seats suitable for a small group of people to gather. This part of the design will have a large concave shape starting from the edge of the ‘seat’ and running up along the wall behind it. The idea was to have it almost mirror the concavity of the screens on the opposite side of the room, tying the space together.
