In a fictional post sand storm future of Palermo, the land is engulfed in a blanket of sand and all water has dried up. Wates becomes a huge value and spiritual need. The people of Palermo gather together to perform a ritual to summon water back to the land. During the summoning dance ritual, the people summon two deities. The Hot and the Cold deity. The theory behind the opposites is similar to all myths and cultures. The notion of dark and light or good and evil. The APA temple is a communal bathhouse and water filtration temple. The phenomenology and function of the design exist cohesively and perform as one within the building. Water is being collected from under the earth and from the sky. The water is then filtered or stored and used within the pools, bathhouses and feature water walls. The design is elevated from the concept of water ripples and bubbles. The circular layout mimics water and is extruded upwards into the sky. A series of floating rooms are suspended within a forest of structural seaweed allowing for multiple vistas and perspectives.
