FLOODING INTO THE FUTURE
by Sofia Rota
Leigh on Sea was selected as the location for this proposal because it reflects a variety of potential problems and conflicts that could be incorporated into the design. The proposal is focused on adapting to the challenges posed by climate change and rising sea levels. The plan involves creating a new community space that can accommodate the needs of people living in the area as the land becomes increasingly flooded. The focus on self-sufficiency through activities such as sea farming, oyster culture, fishing and bamboo plantations suggests that the community will be designed to sustain itself economically and socially. It is critical to carefully consider the potential impacts of rising water levels on land and plan accordingly for future community safety and well-being. Developing a new community living space that is designed to adapt to changing environmental conditions is an innovative approach that can help to mitigate the effects of climate change.
