NORTH WOOLWICH HERBAL TEA-THERAPY COMMUNITY HUBS

by Nicholas Atanasov

Newham is lonely. A shrinking population of elderly and secluded community of lorry drivers have no place to socialise, ruining their mental and physical health. On the off chance they try to leave the confines of their cabins or homes, they are battered with a never ending stream of pollutants. A paradox is created in where if they stay inside in the relative safety from polutants, their health deteriorates, and if they try and venture into the community they have to inhale fumes that are even more dangerous. The proposition will provide a place for community to those most isolated. It will do this through a staple of British culture, tea drinking. Tea is a global cultural phenomenon with deep rooted history, almost unmatched in its spread across the world, crossing barriers of race and nation. It is the perfect method of creating unity and community in a place as diverse as Newham.
