BEESCAPE

by Triantafyllia

Biophilia & Biodiversity research programme. The centre will accommodate research and restoration programme related to the mason bees. The actual building is a nest for the bees and a learning area for the community. People will be able to attend lectures on the life and work of bees, learn how to help them, and create their own bee hotels to install outside their homes. The building will have two designated areas for bee nests one of which will be maintained by the community, and the other will be left untouched. The research will study the impact to the population of the bees in each designated nest area to look for any findings that will suggest whether cleaning of the nest is necessary. The scheme will consist of green walls, roof gardens, and patios to ensure any built surface is given back to nature. The building is designed for Deptford creekside.
