Situated in Kentish Town's Talacre Gardens, ’What does the Dino/Building do?’, is a project inspired by the 1974 Dinosaur playground, built by the grass-roots community group ‘Inter-Action’. Talacre has a strong connection to the surrounding community and has a history of initiatives that aimed to get people and neighbours of the park to engage. In Semester 1 the project proposed to rebuild the dinosaur, providing multiple programmes such as walking bus, a performance space and a taxi for the elderly. In semester 2 the project re-imagines the existing sports centre located within the gardens and proposes minimal but playful fragments that explore different ideas of movement and adaptability, allowing the building to go through different transformations which turns the centre into a circus school and performance space, such as the roof sliding open allowing the circus performers to burst through the roof and to be seen from to the park and passing by train passengers. The centre also acts as a home base for the dinosaur allowing shelter, movement and play to still be a big part of the gardens.
