POLIPHILOS IN MILE END

by Olga Smoli

Every night the park of Mile End transforms into the Dark Forest where the body of Poliphilos wonders under the moonlight. Drawing parallels with the book Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, this project creates a surreal environment which enables the visitor to lie under the moonlight, observe the night sky or wonder through the night gardens. The interior of the building takes inspiration from the elastic and transformable body of Poliphilos and creates a seamless comfortable skin for the visitor to lie there. The project looks into concepts like insomnia and the feeling of sleep deprivation in order to create a building for people who need a magical environment to pass their time during the sleepless nights but also get consultation sessions and therapy.
