by Sharaye Campbell

Tech research centres and tech start-ups in Shenzhen operate throughout different parts of the city in private environments. Their architectural typology is normally understood by hierarchy layering controlled by economical factors and the size of company and very defined system of rolls and job titles.

The proposal will challenge the tech start up and tech research centre’s typology and look at ways that they can be brought together to take advantage of the synergy and natural competitive nature between them. Linking them together with a social interface.

The introduction of a vertical village which will act as a social ligament made unique by using contrasting operations with a transitional environment in comparison to the stacking typology represented within established tech research centre and startup. The roll of the vertical village will impose the ramps leading to the transitional moment and then lead to the start up and research centre.
