PLASTICOD

by Antrea Antoniou

PLASTICOD is located at the spine's end, surrounded by the idyllic views of the site. Its compact form unifies the biodegradable plastic factory with the fish farm underneath the building, and the vibrant village at the top, creating a rural vibe for the factory and giving an industrial touch to the residential units. The project aims to break the industrial production cycle of single use plastic products by recycling them for a permanent use in the form of recycled plastic bricks and wall cladding. Using the MarinaTex bio-plastic technology (bio-plastic made of Atlantic cod scales and skin) for single use wrappings and bags to supply Doggerville and the nearby areas, a new environmentally friendly cycle begins. The layering of functions allows the residential units to grow vertically in the future, and the building's modular nature provides the option of future extension in the river.
