AGGREGATED INTRICACIES

by Owen Nagy

this project focuses upon the careful journey of curation and production of the famed chinese blue and white pottery, produced in china since the 14th century.
the project explores the design of a carefully curated pottery gallery and pottery workshops, allowing the culture of crafting blue and white pottery to flourish within a city renowned for electronic development and production.
the large monolithic scale of buildings which make up shenzhen have a very large scalar reality, less attuned to the smaller scales seen in older cities developed through the needs of the human scale. through the exploration of scale this project will suggest an alternative style of architecture more aimed at detailed formal gestures on the human scale rather than the grand monolithic scale known within shenzhen.
