DYE HOUSE PROJECT

by Maria Ionova

This project is focused on upcycling old clothing and bringing them back to life using organic dyes. The dye is produced in house with a special devise that evaporates organic compost, which is donated by local businesses or people. The water used in the process is recycled with a slow sand filtration system, where the main blocks of sand are brought out to the facade in order to emphasize the process. When the dying machines are in use, the used coloured water is drained through the filters on the facade, creating a beautiful moving flow of water. Main chosen materials for the building itself were concrete and glass.
