MIDORI AKARI (BUILDING)

by Anastasia Plahotniuc

A building designed for Akari lamps artists with the external help of Lina Bo Bardi, an artist, and designer. As Bo Bardi loved nature, I have created a space that almost includes nature as part of itself as it has a terrace with greens hanging from the roof and it has balconies of each of the 5 floors except the basement, where workers have a designed area. There are also big circular see-through tubes where visitors can see how lamps are drying and the finished, therefore being a part of the process. The building itself is of timber on the outside with big windows of Low E glass, serving as a home for three workers, a working space, a shop, and also an art installation situated in the center of Bethnal Green, a beautiful area full of upcoming artists.
