FIRST YEAR ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS.

In order to create a bothy that is safe for photo sensitives, I had to ensure no direct sunlight entered the building. The main idea was to allow sunlight to enter the bothy indirectly (bouncing of the walls). By considering the entrance sequence and shape of bothy, as well as the materiality, I was able to create a safe and comfortable environment.
Designing a studio, home and exhibition space for the artist Olafur Eliasson, my main goal was to create a building which reflected his art. Another key element to my design is the idea of having an atrium with a restaurant for the public, as communal cooking is important to Olafur Eliasson. Incorporating some elements from his installation art, I decided to add coloured glass roof which filters sunlight through beautifully into the interior, creating geometric shapes. The spaces created allows him and his team to be inspired.
