LAULHèRE BERET

by Rachel Mangaya Kumba

I have selected from my final project my favourite Hat from an historical piece of French design - the Beret. The Beret is made from 100% merino wool which absorbs light well, is water proof and is environmentally friendly. Laulhère Berets are traditionally hand –made in a factory in France in a tiny town from the French region of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.Since 1840, all those sweet little hats have been a symbol of the French people, first by tradition, then secondly by elegance and finally by French identity.
Laulhère Berets have offered more contemporary styles since 2017 and have continued serving since the First World War. Laulhère make berets for the military, activists such as Che Guevara, fashion icons such as Brigitte Bardot, media tribe and schools. Their distribution is global and can be found in high-end fashion stores such as Liberty, Dame Vivienne Westwood and Sir Paul Smith.
