CONTEMPORARY TEXTILE FACTORY

by Dominika Sokalska

The Contemporary Textile Factory is designed to revive the approach to the workspace and processes taking place within the textile industry. Since it contributes to pollution and a significant amount of waste, redesigning the concept of work in the clothing and textile factories is an answer to the problem of reducing the harm the fashion industry causes.

The building brings new, small-scale solutions to life. It is a network of spaces where different fabric making processes are taking place. Apart from producing textiles, the factory acts as an education centre; people can watch what it takes to create a piece of clothing step by step, from various platforms and levels. The store, cafe and auditorium are further adding to the concept by enabling people to engage socially, share their ideas and beliefs, educate or design new pieces of fabrics; support the slow, sustainable way of creating within the textile industry.
