URBAN FARM AND MARKETS

by Jaziba Tahir

The proposed building is inspired from the heritage of the site (Leabridge Depot), known as the ‘lammas land’ where Anglo-Saxons drained the lea valley for use as hay meadows. My proposal encourages users to grow their own food and produce healthy dishes. This ultimately decreases the supply chain of fruits and vegetables and therefore reduces CO2 emissions. The environmental strategy of rainwater harvesting means this can be used to water the plants in the proposed greenhouse, orchard farm, community allotments and the hydroponic farms.
