CERAMIC SCHOOL OF MARGATE

Margate recognises the important role that school accommodation plays in providing appropriate learning environments conducive to enhancing learning experiences and raising educational standards. The design is about a further education establish that focuses on the teaching of manual skills. This project gives the opportunity to influence and improve school designs for the benefit of people of age between 16 and 25, the teaching profession and the wider community. The brief has been developed mainly with the provision of new whole school and new extensions in mind although it may also be used in considering the suitability and adaptability of existing premises. Margate supports a diversity of habitats and species largely stemming from its varied geology and land use history. As well as having essential importance, biodiversity contributes significantly to the people of Margate’s quality of life and well-being. The project is not only about physically regenerating the town with another architectural proposal. Another goal is to boost the thinking skills, self-esteem and aspirations of these young people. The aim is to make the feel confident and willing to experiment themselves in projects that will improve their skills in ceramics.
