THE URBAN LAB

by Kacper Sehnke

The Urban Lab is designed to solve 3 problems, unsustainable packaging, unemployment and hunger and sourcing of fresh food.
There are 3 main spaces within the design the first being the material production lab where a material is produced to create sustainable packaging to distribute locally, the second space is the urban farm, in this space, fresh food is grown which can be distributed locally but also to feed people in need in the 3rd space of the design which is the soup kitchen. These 3 spaces create an endless cycle between them whilst being as sustainable as possible.

The building features materials such as; reinforced concrete, double glazed panels and steel. The outer skin of the building uses stainless steel in a way to manipulate light but to also maintain privacy within spaces.
