The Museum of Sound – The project aims to reveal the history, symbols, and importance of the old Whitechapel Bell Foundry to its visitors throughout a breathtaking journey inside of the museum. Creating the atmosphere of an archeological site, the journey allows the visitors to discover by themselves the essence of the foundry and its importance for the community, city, and world. The sound and its vibrations fill the space guiding the visitors and provide a constant change of the atmosphere due to the different acoustics properties that are inside of the museum. The building is designed to lure the curious eyes inside and to offer them an unforgettable and meaningful experience.
The Manifest of Sound – The project is designed as a manifesto of the sound and vibrations materialized into a visual shape aiming to have a constant movement and interaction with the environment and its users. The main building represents a concert hall, a revival of the old Whitechapel Pavilion, which suggests throughout its exterior layers the movement of the sound that is produced inside. The main concept of the project can be resumed as perform – develop – reuse. The project is designed to be the home of a high sound (music) quality performance which records the vibrations and transforms them into electrical energy that is given back to the community and reused. The project is an assemble of a concert hall, an Islamic park, and a self-sustaining sound laboratory. Each element plays an important role in this ongoing cycle. The futuristic shape of the concert hall represents a cumulation of factors, functional, environmental, and aesthetic which are aiming to revive the Aldgate area and its surroundings. The Islamic garden is a symbol of the Whitechapel community integrated into the design which creates the main atmosphere around the site throughout its rich vegetation and water canals. The design aims to create a full experience, visual and emotional that captivates the visitors and inspire them.
