BLENDING ETIQUETTE

by Katherine Stewart

Blending Etiquette considers a future state where London reaches the same temperatures as present day Morocco. This temperature change has caused society to avoid the hot days, socialising at night instead. This project aims to bring people together, interacting on their rooftops. The Old Ragged School of Etiquette meets a world connected through rooftop dinner parties where communities interact each night when it is cooler. Adults will visit the school for evening lessons that blend etiquette customs from across the world with a 1950s English twist. Lessons consist of; getting ready for your evening; pre dinner socialising; table setting; dinner preparation; table manners and post dinner dancing and games. This new way of living is enabled by the creation of walkways that help to create shade for the pavements and flats beneath whilst also connecting a range of rooftop areas for evening dining and socialising.
